Hokusai from the Museum of Fine Arts , Boston, at Kobe City Museum

Katsushika Hokusai ( 1760-1849) produced ukiyo-e ( literally "pictures of the floating world ") wood-block prints, including the iconic The Great Wave Off Kanagawa from the series Thirty-Six Views of Mt. Fuji. It's safe to say that he remains the most famous artist of that genre. Hundreds of his prints are in the world-class Japanese art collection of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston , and 142 of these are now on view in Kobe, in their first appearance in Japan. These include vivid, mint-condition printings of his best-known works, and rarities including prints designed to be cut out and assembled in 3D dioramas.

潮風受けてスーイスーイ　摩耶埠頭にこいのぼり

潮風を受けてスーイスーイ。子供たちの夢を書き

込んだ21匹のこいのぼりが27日、神戸市灘区の

摩耶埠頭でクレーンを使い空高く掲げられた。

「神戸スイミープロジェクト」（栗須哲秀委員長）が主催。神戸市内の小学校などを回って言葉を書いてもらったほか、東日本大震災の被災地や海外にも呼び掛け、3万人の夢が集まった。最も大きいこいのぼりは全長25メートルに及ぶ。プロジェクトを手伝った武士典子さん（37）=同市中央区=は「子供たちの夢がこいのぼりに乗って天まで届いて欲しい」と空を見上げていた。掲揚は5月20日迄（雨天中止）。実行委　TEL078-882-1041 　　　　　　　　　　　　神戸新聞4/27

Carp is swimming smoothly in response to the sea breeze of Maya-futo in May sky. 21 carp which was written children’s dream on the body was raised high in the sky using cranes in Maya-futo-wharf. Organized by "Kobe Swimmy Project" ( Tetsuhide Kurisu Chairman), they visited and called around the elementary schools in Kobe or overseas collaborator and victims of the Great East Japan Earthquake,and they had written their messages on carp. They also called gathered 30,000 peoples dream. Largest carp is up to 25 m length. Noriko Takeshi (37) who helped project, living in Kobe chuo-ku, wishes that she want to be reach to heaven of children’s dreams, so she was looking up the sky.
