My evidence At 103 years old, I’m going forward as it is. Dr. Hirohara’s Talk
One Saturday evening in November, I finished a heated discussion at a seminar for medical personnel and came home at 6:00 pm. I took a bath, had dinner, went to bed immediately and I woke up at 9:30 a.m. the next morning. Still, somehow, a sense of weariness was left. I tried to wash my face in the restroom. A small insect of about 5 millimeters held still in the corner of the washbowl. Although I forced the bug to the wall with a quick flick of my right index finger to let it run wild, the insect died. I thought we do not know what force beyond our control will in time bring our demise like this bug. Actually, I was a hostage in the hijacking of Yodo-go aircraft in 1970. The sky and the sea where I was freed looked more miraculous and gave a blaze differently from before. After that, the determination sprouted up that I keep reminding people how precious life is for as long as I live. I travel in the rear seat of a privately owned car side by side with cars and trucks at violent speeds on an expressway almost every day. The uneasiness that I could be " rolled up in an accident" is in the corner of my heart. Though I've survived danger ( opposite side of the same coin of daily life that I cannot predict ) for 103 years, I pray to still grow more. If the most elderly Japanese person is 116 years old. I'd like to live to that age, no! more! I expect that is like a dream. Life is mysterious.
The pansy on the edge of the eaves was colorful, and on one Sunday in late fall where it was fine, I looked at what bloomed while thinking about such
things.
