　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　The Tenth Astronaut

　The tenth Japanese astronaut, Kimiya Yui ( Air Self-Defense official ) is going to leave for the International Space Station ( ISS) by spaceship of the Soviet Union for half a year this July. Astronaut Toyohiro Akiyama ( TBS TV ) was the first Japanese in space. He went to the Mir space station by Soyuz space ship of the Soviet Union in 1990. K Yui will become the tenth Japanese to go to space, following M.Mouri, C.Mukai (Woman), T.Doi, K.Wakata, S.Noguchi, A.Hoside, N.Yamazaki (W) and S.Furukawa. An astronaut is a person who was chosen to fly with a spaceship out of the atmosphere. It is famous that Yuri A. Gagarin boarded the Soviet space ship Vostok alone as the world's first astronaut in 1961. He returned and left the words, "The earth was blue.” and “ Even if I looked around, there wasn't God”. Also, captain Neil Armstrong and landing ship pilot Buzz Aldrin of the U.S.A.’s Apollo 11 are vivid in our memory for succeeding with humans’ first Moon (Lunar) landing. They flew Eagle and Columbia, NASA space ships, landing on July 20, 1969. In total, 12 American astronauts succeeded in moon landings, but there is not yet a Japanese moon visitor. However, a plan to perform a moon landing with a Japanese rocket is now being prepared for the near future ( 5 years from now ). Already more than 500 astronauts have succeeded in cosmic travel using space craft of the Soviet Union and the United States and more than 30 countries’ astronauts around the world, including Japan, have done space travel. We watched history being made with deep emotion when Captain Armstrong succeeded in the first moon landing in 1969 and shouted "It was one step for man but a giant leap for the mankind".

　Well, what kind of impression or word will Japanese astronaut Kimiya Yui bring 46 years after Armstrong’s moon walk? Space is still far-off sky in my times, but the chance to go to space will definitely be available to young men in the future. The tempo of the times is really quick. I wanted to watch the blue earth from space, but my dream does not seem to come true.　

※　An American travel agency is recommending 4 minuets of space travel, but its’ better to say “space flight” than a “space trip”. It’s 25,000,000 yen per 4 minutes. But if it isn't a stay the ISS or on a moon’s surface face as expected, I don't think I would be satisfied.

　十人目の宇宙飛行士

　この7月にソ連の宇宙船で日本人の十人目の宇宙飛行士、油井亀美也( 航空自衛官 ) が半年間 ISS 国際宇宙ステーション、宇宙へと旅立つ。1990年に秋山豊寛飛行士（元TBS 記者）がソ連のソユーズ宇宙船でミールへ日本人で始めて宇宙へ行ってから10人目となる。M.Mouri, C.Mukai ( W ) , T.Doi, K.Wakata, S.Noguchi, A.Hoside, N.Yamazaki ( W ), S.Furukawa に続く日本人で10人目となる。宇宙飛行士 ( Astronaut 米 , Kosmonavt 露 ) は宇宙船による大気圏外の飛行で作業を行なうように選ばれた人のことで、Yuri A. Gagarin が1961年世界初の宇宙飛行士としてボストーク1号に単身搭乗して帰還し「地球は青かった」、「見回してみても神はいない」等の言葉を残したのは有名である。又、1969年7月20日、NASAの司令船コロンビアColumbia から月面着陸船のイーグル Eagle に乗り、人類初の月面着陸 Moon ( Lunar ) Landing に成功したアメリカ合衆国のアポロ11号 Apollo 11 Program の船長ニール・アームストロング、着陸船操縦士バズ・オルドリン Buzz Aldrin のことは私たちの記憶に生々しい。アメリカの宇宙飛行士は合計12人も月面着陸に成功したが日本人ではまだいない。しかし、日本でもロケットで月面着陸を行なう計画が今準備されている。日本を始め世界30カ国以上、500人もの宇宙飛行士が今までにソ連やアメリカやそれ以外の宇宙船でも宇宙飛行に成功している。1969年アームストロング船長が月面着陸して「人類にとって大きな一歩」と叫んだ歴史を私たちは感動を持って見たわけだが、それから数えて46年、日本の宇宙飛行士油井さんはどういう感動をもたらすのだろう。私の時代ではまだ遠い宙だが、これからの若者は必ず宇宙へ出かけるチャンスが訪れるに違いない。時代のテンポは誠に早いものだ。私も宇宙から青い地球を見てみたかったが夢は叶いそうもない。

※ アメリカの旅行社が宇宙旅行、宇宙飛行と言った方が良いが、4分間で2,500万円の旅行を勧めているが、やはりISSか月での滞在の旅でないと満足出来そうもない。

　日本生まれの大型外国客船「ダイヤモンド・プリンセス」（１１６，０００トン）が２１日早朝、今年初めて神戸港に入港した。２００４年に三菱重工長崎造船所（長崎市）で建造され、船籍は英国。全長２９０メートルの１８階建てで、乗客定員は２，７０６人。米国プリンセス・クルーズ社が２０１３年から日本発着の国内外を巡るクルーズを運航しており、昨年から神戸港も発着地に加わった。

　今回は横浜から静岡、長崎を経由して韓国･釜山へ巡航。２１日午前５時半ごろ、神戸ポートターミナルに着岸し、船は２１日午後５時に出港、北海道や釜山を巡って、２９日朝に再び神戸港に寄港する。　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　(5/21/2015神戸新聞)
