Do you believe in God ?
There is interesting data. According to a column in the Asahi Shinbun, in response to the question “Do you believe in God and Buddha?”, the number of people who answered "yes" was 58%, and "no" was 42%. In addition in response to " Are you religious ?", the of respondents saying "no" was 16% and “yes” was 82 %. The person who is indifferent to religion and the person who is devout seem to surely coexist in the present age. There are many elder people in the church I belong to these days and few young believers. The number of new believers is very low and is not increasing. There are many religions around us and new religions are introduced often. This trend is worldwide. Quarrels and wars between religions are on the increase and some religions have grown more and more radical. Also internal fighting in the same denomination and fights between global religions are increasing.
To the previous questionnaire, Kang Sang-jung, University of Tokyo’s professor comments,
"What is the ground of "no religion" in Japanese society? It is often considered a neutral and acceptable stance. Unlike the innocent theory of "God does not exist", being non-religious allows one to stop thinking about the subject. It is similar to say "independents" in the political world. Just as student movements lose momentum and people stop talking about them, incidents with new religions give people reason to think, " I do not want to be involved with that!" The topics of politics and religion have long been considered taboo at work and school. However, if you look at the field of international politics, religion is one of the great power to move the world. Language ability is also important by raising global human resources and the grounding to think, read and untie about miscellaneous problems of politics and a religion if desired. First thing to learn is the origins and history of the three major religions of the world. Try talking to people of different faiths without hesitation. For breakthrough of the current Japanese blockage situation, our life has been demanded."
According to the questionnaires 58% versus 42%, many people are no religious but not atheists. Such thinking might be the majority in Japan.
Obon and Ohigan, equinoctial week , or funeral and weddings and Christmas and New Year events, so far, at that time they are only religious believers.

12 For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world's rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.
